The Sue Daley Designs Difference

Sue Daley Designs pre-cut papers are precision die-cut from high quality cardstock. The unique coating is designed to work with the Sue Daley Designs Sewline Glue Pen so the papers can removed from the fabric with ease and be re-used multiple times.

Sue Daley’s English Paper Piecing

The technique that Sue Daley introduced to the world of English Paper Piecing is the glue-baste method. By using a Sue Daley Sewline fabric glue pen to prepare your shapes, you can easily cut down your preparation time by more than 75%!

English Paper Piecing dates back to the 1800’s and the process of this hand sewing technique was very time consuming. Fabric was thread basted over paper hexagons cut from old letters or ledgers and then whip stitched together. Scissors were used to cut the fabric pieces approximately ¼” larger than the paper shape, meaning a quilt could take years to finish by hand.

Today the same basic principles are used, but technology is a wonderful thing, making this very time consuming technique achievable by patchworkers far and wide. Up until very recently, patchworkers were still basting their fabric onto papers, sewing through the card and fabric with thread! Luckily we now have the Sue Daley method and her range of English Paper Piecing notions to make this technique simple for all sewers.
